The Soup Diet

Hi,
Someone at work just gave me this diet,he has been on it for a little while and he is melting away. I thought that some of you would be interested. It sounds pretty good to me.
A diet that works!
This 7 day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean out your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well being as never before. After only 7 days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 and possibly 17 lbs., and have an abundance of energy. Continue on this plan as long as you wish to feel the differences.
This diet is fast, fat-burning* and the secret is that you will burn more calories than you take in.
(*See the comments below about "fat-burning" diets.)
The Soup
1 OR 2 CANS OF TOMATOES (I.E. STEWED)
3 LARGE GREEN ONIONS
1 LARGE CAN OF BEEF BROTH (NO FAT) OR CHICKEN BROTH
1 PKG. LIPTON SOUP MIX (I.E. CHICKEN NOODLE OR ONION)
1 BUNCH CELERY
2 CANS GREEN BEANS OR FRESH BEANS
2 GREEN PEPPERS
2 LBS. CARROTS
Season with salt, pepper, curry, parsley (if desired) or boullion (Bovril) or hot sauce (Worcestershire).
Cut veggies in small to medium pieces.
Cover with water and boil fast for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to simmer and continue cooking until veggies are tender.
This soup can be eaten any time you're hungry during the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever your want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Take a thermos with you if you will be away during the day.
DRINKS:
Unsweetened juices, tea (also herbal), coffee, cranberry juice, skim milk, or water, water, water, ...
DAY ONE:
Any fruit, except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today.
DAY TWO:
All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh, raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green, leafy veggies, stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinner time tonight, reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter! Do not eat any fruits through the day.
DAY THREE:
Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days, and not cheated, you should have lost 5 to 7 Ibs.
DAY FOUR:
Bananas and skim milk. Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today. Along with the soup, bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates as is milk, but on this particular day, your body will need potassium and carbs. Proteins and calcium to lessen cravings for sweets.
DAY FIVE:
Beef and tomatoes: You may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 4 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today.
DAY SIX:
Beef and veggies. Eat to your heart's content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies, but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.
DAY SEVEN:
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies. Again, be sure to stuff yourself and also eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish.
By the end of the seventh day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 Ibs. If you have lost more than 17 Ibs., stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again.
This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build-up in your system go off the diet at least 24 hours before any intake of alcohol.
Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day 3, you will have more energy than when you began... if you do not cheat.
After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fibre.
Although you can have black coffee with this diet you may find that you don't need the caffeine after the third day.
The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the 7 days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember, the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. (Absolutely no skin on the chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.
Any prescribed medication will not hurt or affect you on this diet. Continue the diet plan as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically.
Do Not! Do Not! Do Not!
No bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks (including diet drinks). Remember, absolutely no fried foods!
Do! Do! Do! Do! Do! Do!
Drink plenty, at least 6-8 glasses of water a day, as well as any combination of the following beverages: black coffee, unsweetened tea, unsweetened fruit drinks, cranberry juice and skim milk.
Good Luck and Enjoy!

This is not an AF joke BTW.

I think this has to work to a degree becuase the soup has no calories and you would feel full from the broth and vegtables

Unsweetened juices, tea (also herbal), coffee, cranberry juice,

Ever try unsweetened cranberry? :pucking:

Sounds like a great diet if you have the discipline. However, it's not exacty a diet of convienience.

I'm on this diet where I eat fat free cottage cheese and beef Jerky. If you can find it, low-carb yougart (it has much higher protein than regular yougart too).

It sounds sick, I know. But I'm telling ya, the pounds have came off in a hurry.

I eat as much as I want of this stuff and whenever I want. Thing is, you start to have this full feeling all the time and you start to not eat as much anymore except at regular meal times.

It's been great because I'm a late night eater and now I don't care to.

DonkeyBucks, that actually sounds kinda cool.

ppeter, I'm the same way

Actually, now that I am back to eating soups like healthy choice and campell's healthy choice I have lost like 5-6 pounds over the last week. I think if you eat a lot of soup that is low sodium and low cal you will lose some weight. That's what made me look this up.

Wish me luck guys, I just finished cooking this an hour ago and I'm just starting bowl #2! I LOVE THIS SOUP! Not saying this to psyche myself up mentally, it is really frikkin good! I went hogwild on the spices though, this is kind of like an asian/korean hot & Spicy soup. After bowl 1 I was all smiles and I'm thinking this will be a snap! I just need to fend off the late night pastry/choc. and I should be okay. Already recommending this just on FLAVOR alone -- mine is a wee bit different from recipe above. Added a large hot serrano pepper (wicked hot), Basil, Mrs. Dash, Oregano, Celery Salt,Paprika, red, black, cayenne pepper, no boullion - went with Liptons Onion soup mix vs. chix broth or other -- no beans.

Thanks Rob for posting that diet. It got me motivated to kick off those pounds and get my ass in gear. Today is the 7th day for me. I started at 180 lbs., and am down to 171 lbs. now. The only cheating I did was to eat a pack of crackers. Now I have questions: Once I am to my goal weight, which is 165-167 what do I change my diet to? I'm going to start cardio and working in the gym so it will be mostly muscle. What kind of diet do I need to go on once the fat is gone to build muscle tone? All responses are appreciated.

angel, I am pretty much where you are right now with that question. I'm going to stay heavy on fruit &vegs and avoid sweets, fried foods, starchy food, plus smaller portions as well because I'm the type who can sit down and wolf down 5 lbs of pasta. I have soup left over so I'm going to finish it off and merge back into normal diet. Just going to consider every thing I eat and hold off as best as possible.

I am on my 14th day with this diet, did my first cheat today (muffin and cream in coffee) but I'm getting too damn cranky all of a sudden -LOL! Also seems like I lost all the weight during first 6 days and now I've leveled off. FWIW, these are my thoughts on this diet: I think the best candidate for this type of diet is someone who does not eat alot of spicy foods (I'm the opposite) as a rule. This diet is supposed to put a literal fire in your belly and put your digestive tract into overdrive. It did give me gas but it was worth it, at least for first week. My stomach was never growling which makes it alot easier, except for past 2 days- its growling right now@!

Another key note to add, I used same recipe as above except I used a head of cabbage and a few large Serrano peppers and spices galore. The broth was hot, let alone spicy - I figured this would help my cause.

After I was on this for 5 days I went back and reread info. One thing stood out: "the more soup you eat the more you will lose" . This had me concerned. The first few days I had 2 HUGE bowls of the soup and was hoping I wasn't having too much. Then went down to 2 small bowls or one huge and now I wonder if that was a problem. This is whre it seems like I leveled off in the weight loss dept. So now I am thinking that if I had more soup I would have lost a few more but who knows.

On the bright side, I am down 2 belt notches and can now fit into dress clothes that I could n't squeeze into 2 weeks ago - hence, I don't have to invest in new wardrobe now. But still I was hoping hte pounds would keep dropping off but now I'm probably at a point where I'm only losing a pound or 2 a day.
Also noteworthy: Just started exercising after a very inactive winter for me. Basically walking, running, bicycling - light on the running (sore ankle). Again, this change of pace led me to think that I would have lost more weight but...

Anyhow, I definitely recommend this if you want to dump maybe 10 pounds in a few days - that part works for sure, maybe even without exercise. The soup tastes great if you like that style of soup and you can change it around a little each time to keep it form being boring.

Sorry this reply got so long

I don't think if you ate more soup you would have lost more. I leveled off too. The morning after the first day of the diet I lost 3 lbs., then would lose about 1-2 a day. I walked at least 2 miles everyday. I lost most of my weight in my ass but that's a good thing. I think I will just go on a 2k calorie diet and be fat conscious from now on and just exercise. No doubt this diet makes you feel healthy.
